YouTuber Norme recently made headlines with a daring attempt to break the world record for staying awake, but the attempt ended in controversy when his stream was taken down by YouTube. Norme, driven by the challenge of surpassing the previous record of 264 hours set by Randy Gardner in 1964, began live-streaming his quest to stay awake for over 11 days. Despite the record being deemed too dangerous for official recognition by Guinness World Records, Norme pressed on with his challenge.

Around 250 hours into his attempt, YouTube removed Norme’s stream, citing the potential risks associated with extreme sleep deprivation. Undeterred, Norme shifted his stream to Kick, only to face another ban. With each platform rejecting his challenge, Norme eventually continued his attempt on Rumble, where he reportedly succeeded in staying awake for 264 hours and 24 minutes.
The intense duration of the challenge attracted significant attention, leading to emergency services being called to Norme’s location. Posts on his X/Twitter suggested that paramedics were dispatched to his home as a precautionary measure, highlighting the serious health risks associated with prolonged wakefulness.

Now that Norme has completed his no-sleep challenge, he has shifted gears to a new project: filming a “WORLD’S LONGEST SLEEP STREAM” on Twitch. This new endeavor seems to be a response to the exhausting ordeal of his previous attempt, offering a lighter, less hazardous twist on the world record theme. Norme’s journey has sparked considerable debate on social media, drawing attention to the extremes some are willing to go for internet fame and the potential consequences of such challenges.
